Boot Screen and Login Screen

Postby pujithadimuthu » Feb 27th, '24, 09:19

Hi,
Today I upgrade Mageia 8 to Mageia 9. GUI installation done.
After booting I got couple of issues. Terrible :D

FYA.
1. Boot screen displays Mageia 8 but shut down displays Mageia 9. [Boot.jpg]
2. While booting "Esc" Login Screen. [Esc login.jpg]
3. After normal booting login Screen. [login.jpg]

Please check different login themes too.

VGA: NVIDIA GeForce 210

Thanks,

Pujitha

Text problem in sddm login dialogue: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32805, also noted in errata.

I remember i have read someone else also seeing the Mageia 8 picture. Only visual effect.

Do the system operate correctly in other aspects?

I think TrustWallet extension (Brave Browser) has problems too. Does not load properly. Checked it on playbux.co

Brave is an external app which is not shipped with Mageia. The same applies for this browser extension…

What is the difference between these 2 update methods?

Method 01:

urpmi.update -a
urpmi --update --auto-select
urpme --auto-orphans

Method 02:

dnf --refresh upgrade
dnf autoremove
dnf clean all

You should probably read up a bit on the topics you're asking for. There's a golden rule, one topic per thread. You're already asking for the third different topic in this thread.

And the answer to your question is simple: One uses urpmi, and the other uses dnf. Although for method one that can be simplified to urpmi --auto-update
and you probably shouldn't be running urpme --auto-orphans: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Removing_packages
