Error while changing resolution of primary display [Done]

You don't need to run xrandr every time to get the proper resolution, and you don't need to run it automatically.
You only have to preconfigure it once as described e.g. in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/mu ... _xorg.conf
but you need to setup the correct values once.

[jacob@localhost ~]$

I tried, again unsuccessfully to implement "my own" xorg.conf .
Enterred user name and password after boot, the system does not complete the process of adding the 5 circled over the broken circle of Mageia logo.

Apparently my reply did not reach anywhere, so I send it again.

I hope it'll help to make some progress

I unmraked the "Enable duplicate display on the external monitoe" from XFdrake option.
Even though I still could not save the configuratio due to the error reported, the unmirrored dual display survived reboot.
All my efforts to modify xorg.conf as recomended, failed.
In short, I managed to acheive my dual display setup.

Thanks to all who tried to help

Glad that you got it sorted finally :)

For completeness sake, this is not enabled by default, also this wasn't in the xorg.conf you posted previously.

Was this enabled the whole time? And did you enable it on purpose?

I can't remember if it was marked by default . I guess that during my efforts to use 2 displays, I myself checked it.
In any case' I am still unable , while using the system tools "display", to change and/or save a different settings as I get the same error message reported at my initial post
Tks

Then please report that as a bug, after searching if it hasn't been reported yet already: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly
