Elantech ETPS/2 touchpad stopped working

Hello,

I have a laptop (ThinkPenguin Korora) that has a Elantech ETPS/2 touchpad. Yesterday, with no software updates or other system changes that I could discern, it stopped responding to any input at all.

Could someone suggest how to diagnose what's going on?
