Here is the output....the first time I ran it there were some updates, but nothing obviously related to the video card. I couldn't capture that because I ssh'ed in and the client I was using had lame text capturing capabilities.

nonfree updates still doesn't seem enabled. Also you seem to have enabled tainted release, but not tainted updates.

OK, that did it. Not sure why I had so much trouble getting the right repos enabled. I think I must have been confused by the ENABLED versus UPDATES checkboxes on MCC.

Anyway, now booted and happily responding to this thread under kernel 3.4.34!
