Pfft, they have that on their website for all of their mainboards. Although there's almost never a need to install drivers from chipset vendors, only for really rare wifi chipsets.
In general the hardware support of the linux kernel is really awesome without any external drivers.

Hello johnt11,

Your mobo: Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H is UEFI friendly.
If you are unfamiliar with UEFI, you should download the Mageia 5 Livecd [ 700 + something Mb ] .
This cd also includes free and non-free drivers , so it will give you a good idea as to how Mageia will behave on your system.

(don't mention the cricket)

Well, I am using Mageia since it started (before I was using Mandriva), but this is
the first time I post here... just to let you know that Mageia 5 has been named
"distribution of the year" by an Italian Linux Magazine, LinuxPro.

Congratulation for your good work !

Hi there, nice to hear that. Could you add a link for that LinuxPro nomination to https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_5_Pre ... y_-_Italia please ?

HI. im from Brazil n i was looking for a linux distro.

i use computer since 1995, since windows 3.1 until 10.

im using tails n i tested a lot of linux distros over 10 years but i did not make it because its to dificult to do things at linux.

i found magea (a conectiva mandriva distro i gues), n in the past i bought a coneectiva 9 to do tests but weak support made me go back to mr gates.

in this days, i do not use computer like before, so i just need a sistem free of virus as possible i can n better privaci.

i need to do a greek present to my family -- my windows 8.

tks

Welcome Denis! You may want to look at Contributing page to find out what kind of contribution suits for you. At first you may want to just test the packages and distro by joining our QA Team.

Hey guys

Let's make this quick: over 30 years of experience in this industry, with some of the world's best players (Google, IBM, Microsoft, Apple, etc ...). Enough said about me: I guess you're VERY VERY lucky to have me here.

Well, it's clear you didn't see my resume. If you had, you would know how lucky you are to have someone with as much experience as me here in this forum. This is really extraordinary news. Should be posted to the blog even...

Hi everyone :)

I havn't used Linux since I tried a few builds out in the mid 90's  Back then I worked on NT 4.0 servers and since I've just kinda stuck with ms even though their window-versions has gone downhill ever since imo

But now I'd finally had enough and thought I'd try out a few Linux OS again (Suse, Ubuntu, Gentoo and ofc. Mageia 5) So far I like Mageia best, looks great and feels fast and stable. I guess I'll end up with Gentoo on the "über-geek-pc" :geek: but on my laptop Mageia 5 is just sweet :)

Unfortunatly I dont know much about code, so I guess Im gonna ask a few newb q's in here from time to time :D

Hello soren and welcome to Mageia,

newb q's are fine, as are not so newb ones.

there is a lot of info in the forum, so just search for your problem, it likely that someone else has had it and has a cure / fix posted.

Great to read that Mageia is just sweet on your laptop.
Check the links on Mageia Welcome, should have popped up when you rebooted after install.
There is a lot of good stuff there too.

Hope you enjoy using Mageia, I've been using it for 5 years or so, before that Mandriva and Mandrake.
I have tried other flavours but keep coming back because it is just so undemanding.

Theres also IRC clients built into your system, [chat room link, Mageia Welcome will launch it] so you can always ask there too - #mageia.
depending on your timezone, there is nearly always some-one on.

regards

Gidday, I am from Australia, hence the userid.

I have been using Linux on and off for 4 years now. Broke the ties with Windows 18 months ago and now run a totally Linux environment, with 14 Linux Distros running and more to follow.

Mageia 5 is one of my favourites, but I am only now learning about Terminal commands at Konsole, so I may have a few questions.

Cheers
