Bonjour!

It was the year 1999... some bored guy (me) with Windows tried mandrake Linux. (I have somewhere the install cdroms)

Since then many distros have come and go on my computers and now I give Mageia a try.
This distro looks oddly familiar!!!

I am not the brightest due to my handicap but I managed to learn allot about free software and what not.

Greetings from the Netherlands! :ugeek:

Greetings from the northeastern U.S. Hasn't yet snowed locally, but I'm sure it's coming...

During my early Linux days, I installed Mandriva on a 32-bit computer and with Mageia, I am recognizing some of the features from Mandriva.

Mageia has been installed on one of my 64-bit desktops, to try out, after running it in a virtual machine under Debian and so far, I like it. I was very pleased to discover that the Bluetooth USB dongle I have, was recognized right out of the box. I installed Bluetooth Manager (blueman) and it paired the headphones.

A warm welcome to the Mageia-community epp!!! :)

Sure you will recognize many things from your Mandriva-period, but meanwhile we are already into an 8th release of it's successor and building on version 9.

Besides enjoying the community and the release, we gladly invite you for contributing in one of many ways:

Hi isadora. Thank you for the warm welcome.

I made the decision tonight (local time) to install Mageia on my main desktop as well. Just finished installing, also with the LXQt desktop.

I had some issues with the now-previous distro, that went from bad to worse.

Hello Y'all,

My name is Ken and I'm an old guy who lives in the State of Texas. I'm just starting with Mageia, and don't know really anything about "How to...", so I came here to try to learn.

In my previous setting, I was subject to the abuse of win 10, and got so disgusted with the developer of that garbage that I finally left them. Imagine, you buy all the hardware to build your own PC, including putting out the money for their OS, only to figure out you aren't allowed to change the Name of your computer because ??????.

Anyway, I have lots of questions, like Where do I get all of the screen themes that I "installed" (I think) correctly? I found the list of backgrounds and themes available, installed some and clicked on the "Use" button, but, nothing changed. So what do I do now?

I'm looking around, and will be asking questions. I hope I will be able to make some Friends on here. :D

Ken,
Houston, TX

Hello everyone , I am Alexandre , recently few months ago I started to learn coding and then I learn the very basic coding (loop, statement, function...)by language c .Currently, I made some templates in html and css , afterward , I decided to learn php to make my own site from scratch .I started to learn coding cause I really am curious and interested about robotics , IA, innovation , space exploration, embedded systems etc . Originally, I am an electrician and I worked on automatic closing system(I mean gates and doors) but I would like to make this field of activity as professional in the future , not without of course , dedication and some lost skull hairs . I am an adherent of an association that valorizes free softwares and mageia distribution and support people to use these software for recycling old computers .So as you can guess ,I use mageia though I am a beginner in term of informatic skills , Nice to meet you !

Hello!

I like Mageia so much! Mageia is the OS I like the most. I like Mageia more than Ubuntu, Fedora, Windows, MacOS, Chrome OS, or any OS.

I think my liking for Mageia is coming from Mandriva. Mandriva is placed deep in my heart and Mageia seems to be the best successor of Mandriva.

Well, of course like many Mandriva/Mandrake-addicts before you, they all love Mageia.
Enjoy the community and the distribution, and have magical times around. :)
