Suggestion on forum links

I think it would be nice if the external links in the forum were opened in a new window. I found a quick fix here https://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/making-link-forum-links-open-in-new-windows/

Well, if you use firefox you could use something like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -mix-plus/
Don't think that the default will be changed, as some users want it as it is, some want new tabs, some want new windows.
What you want to change there would be a global setting, which would effect everybody

... if it would be implemented at all, which seems currently unlikely, similar to all the other proposals for forums - *sigh*

Here it describes the reason:

Compared to phpBB3, links in phpBB2 had a slightly different behaviour: When you clicked them, they opened a new window with the requested page. This was changed in phpBB3 for a couple of reasons, but one of the most important ones was the goal to achieve XHTML 1.0 Strict-validation for the whole board.

Middle click to open external urls in a new window , is useful in this case.

Hello,
Left click to open in the same window
Middle click (or wheel)) to open in a new tab
Right click to open in a new window

What do you want more ?

I realize this is an old post and everybody answering you think you have a reduced mental capacity since you cannot midle click your wheel :D

I have news for you that will make you feel better - the majority in here (that cares) does actually agree with you - as do I. And we did so one year ago!
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3987

The majority do obviously not have a say in this.

But I think your request at least should get a decent handling in the appropriate council or group - so that nothing is done about it in a proper way

(To be fair: It is anticipated that if nothing is done after one year then there was no capacity to handle it)
