Elections for forums team

PostPosted: Mar 1st, '13, 11:53

Today maat sent a mail about the anual elections:

The time has come to proceed to election for forums team.

The deadline to name the new forums team leader is 16th of march which
gives us 2 full weeks to compltete the process.

I propose that candidates apply from now till next saturday 23h59'59''

Then we organise the vote with a deadline wednesday 13th of march 23h59'59''

And we announce the result to council on tuesday 14th of march.

Is this planning ok for all ?

Side question : do you prefer open voting by replying to the list or do
you prefer to use epoll ( https://epoll.mageia.org/ ) ?

Okay, for me, and no preferable way for voting. ;)

I could not find anythng about it here:

I thought the tasks list used to be longer, but this is what I see now:

https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Forum_Rules# ... eam_Leader

Last year it was decided that Forums team would need two leaders, but then only Maat volunteered.
Doktor5000, isadora and me then decided to volunteer to be assistants who would share the leader's tasks if Maat would be unavailable.

About rights: every first leader of a team becomes a member of council. I can't think of anything else, now ;)

Thanks marja! I was not aware of that wiki, so I am confused at a higher level now :D
As you know I am more concerned about what you can do rather than the name of the function. I have the impression that you guys have way to little rights.
But that does depend on the tasks of course.
Thanks for the job done so far!

Thx Viking60 :)

@ all:

We have a problem: Like all teams, we should at least have a leader and a deputy. Maat is re-electable as leader, so that is good, but we don't have a deputy candidate, so, unless doktor5000 and isadora say they'll share deputyship, or someone is willing to be deputy all by him/herself, we won't have a backup for the leader.

I can't be one of the assistants anymore. Until yesterday I thought an assistant (or a deputy or a leader) with too little time to do his/her job well is better than no assistant/deputy/leader at all, but I stopped thinking that.

I think, without enough time to do this job well, I harm Mageia and the forums more than I do good. So I decided to focus on being a better leader for documentation team.

I know it is officially too late to become a candidate for being a deputy or an assistant leader. However, anyone interested in becoming deputy or assistant leader: please say so! It would be nice to have both a leader and a good back-up for this team :-D

doktor5000 wrote to the ml:

Well, for me either thing is fine, half-deputy or deputy, i don't mind.
Maybe two deputys would also be an idea, but i don't know ...

PS: Of course this is because of the famous song by some jamaican guy,
who mentioned that in doubt only the sheriff gets shot, not the deputy(s) ;)

:D

If deputies are equally paid as assistants, i don't see any issue, as far as it concerns me. :)

And now i dive back into the bed.

Get better soon!

The votes will have to be finalized before Saturday.

I vote for having maat as leader and doktor5000 & isadora as deputies.

I'm fine with isadora and maat. Sad that noone else applied so far, even if there are so much complaints about forum topics altogether throughout the forum...

Hi all,

I think we can consider the vote is done.

And as noone else applied it seems that the result is easy to guess :p

Thanks all for your votes and your confidence. Let's now work to improve our forum and make it a better place to troll^Wdiscuss :)

Cheers

Maât

Btw, I wasn't aware that our new deputies would become council members, too. I had always understood that only the team leaders became members and that deputies could represent them in council meetings without being members themselves. Last year sebsebseb, marcom deputy, did not become a council member.

Maybe only deputies who have done a lot for the project are added to council? It is sure doktor5000 and isadora did an amazing lot and I'm very happy they're in council, now :-D

The procedure described in the wiki does seem to allow for up to three representatives from each team, assuming that team leaders and deputies become members of the council, although that is not made entirely clear.

https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Org#Mageia_Community_Council

The packagers team also has three council representatives; the security team has only one:
