I've noticed that we've started to get some SPAM message in the forums. The latest in the "News and Announcement" section.
Shouldn't this particular section be made so that only forum admin/moderators can start a post there? A normal (if any of us can be called normal ) user mostly don't have to create a post there. Only answer ones that are already present.

Just an idea. And of course open for discussion

I can't start a topic in "News and Announcement" only reply to existing ones.
Am I missing something?

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear.
What is being proposed,
"Administrators only can create new threads in News and Announcements"
is and has been from the beginning the way it is. Nothing to change.

Maybe not all in all comparable, but i made a new test-account, goldbird.
This goldbird-guy could post a new topic in News and Announcements, after he was logged in.

Yes I see that and am puzzled.
I'm a member of "Mageia Helpers" but other than that a regular member and I can't create a new topic in "News and Announcements".

I stand corrected.
There is a problem.
New members are getting privileges that old members don't have.
Tested with a new account.

Just tested with my test-account (goldbird), which is no longer able posting in "News and Announcements".
