Timeshift (Daylight Savings Time)

Postby wobo » Nov 2nd, '11, 14:31

At the bottom right it says: "All times are UTC + 1 hour (DST)". This ended last weekend in most countries in Europe.
Now, for the registered user / logged in view each user has to change the time display in his Personal Preferences ("Board Preferences" -> just move the mark to "No DST"). For the general view (not logged in readers, visitors) this has to be done by an admin in the ACP.

As readers may come from any point of the globe I'd suggest to set this general time display
- either to French local time (meaning an admin should change to "No DST" to display the correct French time) or
- set the general display to GMT.

I'm not sure the times can be right anyway.

On the front page of the forum today, there is a post by janpihlgren dated Nov 17th, '11, 15:04, and one by doktor5000 dated Nov 17th, '11, 14:47. These are supposedly (according to the Forum) UTC+1 times.

It is presently 13:39 UTC in the UK, therefore 14:39 UTC+1, so both these posts are apparently from the future!

Aha! the posted time of my last message (which I said was 13:39) showed up as 15:40, therefore the forum is showing two hours ahead of GMT/UTC!

If you are not logged in this is right. The time displayed is taken from the general setting, done by the admin in the ACP. Obviously he has not yet changed this to "winter time" (or GMT, as I suggested).

Now log in and look at the time again, if you changed your personal settings to the correct time the forum should display the correct time (according to the time you set).

Ah, found it and fixed it. Thanks wobo.

No time-wormhole after all. How disappointing! :)
