attempting to run from menu brings up the initial splash for Stellarium, then goes off.

Probably not. The same situation with i586&Cauldron.
Versions 12.2 or 12.4 are running OK.

The packager was faster - it has been fixed in version stellarium-0.13.0-2.mga5 - it seems that qtquick5-qmlviewer as a require was missing.
