Yesterday afternoon I was told that there were 5 updates available for my Mageia 4 of 64 bits. I can not remember exactly what they were. Work around with browsers without noticing any problem, restart I get this message:

Welcome to emergency mode! After logging in, type "systemctl -b" to view system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" to try again to boot into default mode. Give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue):

Stand typing my password and asks me what the different options ("systemctl-b" "systemctl default") but does not give me any answers, I choose to do "systemctl reboot" to reboot, and comes out the same.
Removing the disc (rated 3 months of use) I put it in another machine and do "fsck" and no errors or writing blocks.
I could not move from there, so I rescued my information and placed another OS waiting for the final release of Mageia 4

Welcome to emergency mode! After logging in, type "systemctl -b" to view system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" to try again to boot into default mode. Give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue):

What happens if you press Ctrl+D or enter
Code: Select all
systemctl default
after entering your root password?

After placing "Ctrl+D" at the same initial returns me message, i stand as root and typing "systemctl default" restarts and the message reappears, for that reason format and placed another OS (Kubuntu 13.10) as it leaves the final version of Mageia

Hi,

Same problem (same error) here after updating Mageia 3 to Mageia 4 with shell

Doing a new install or an update with the iso DVD (x86_64) is not better. Boot the DVD and have the message below and nothing else
"ISOLINUX 6.02 Mageia ETCD copyright (c) 1994-2013 H.Peter Anvin et Al"

Conclusion for me
Back to the mageia 3 :|

You did realize that this thread is quite old, and your problem probably comes from something totally different?
Did you look at the Errata? Second line in https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Err ... ade_Issues
From what was reported so far, this only applies for the first boot with the Mageia 4 boot entries, if you choose one of the Mageia 3 entries,
after next reboot everything should be working as expected.

Apart from that, you didn't provide any details from the emergency console, so probably nobody can tell you from remote what the root cause is.
Could be a changed UUID from one of the partitions in fstab, or a broken filesystem, or something totally different ...
