Hi all!
I had Mageia running and decided to replace it with Mageia 3 RC. I downloaded the .iso ( the md5sum was good). I burnt it and tried installing it. Everything was fine until the installation ( partitioning was ok, etc.).
First time I gave the installation a good hour. Second try I aborted after 45 min or so.
The release notes button, the cancel and the details buttons do not work and I see no progress or estimated time. I see the DVD flashing so something is going on right. I think!
I have a Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 Gb of RAM.

Should I give the installation more time or wait for the final release?

I just wanted to let you know what happened in case it might be useful for you to know.

You could try again with dumping the image to an USB drive, would also be quite faster
and not wasting precious DVDs (you know, green it and stuff )

I am using a DVD-RW btw. Could this be the problem? Also I tried using the usb-ImageWriter that came with PCLinuxOS but it doesn't want to see the .iso image.

You may have to set it to show any filetype, as by default it only looks for .img or files, if i remember correctly.

I looked everywhere and tried to do it but couldn't.

Rejean, may i advise to be more specific in your topics' title.
Something like: Installation problems with Mageia 3 RC,................or the likes.

Problem solved. I burnt the same Mageia .iso but onto another DVD-RW and this time during the installation I could see the progress bar working and see which software was being installed. Strange that K3B told me the 1st DVD was a succes.
I am replying from Mageia right now. It doesn't look that different from the Mageia 2 as far as can see. Great all around. Congratulation!
