Pre-Release Testing

Postby claire » Nov 29th, '12, 11:10

Hi all

Some of you may know, others may not, I am team leader of the QA team (aka MrsB, don't ask :P)

We're looking for volunteers to help with pre-release testing of the ISOs. New ISOs are release roughly once a month at the moment, building up to the final release of Mageia 3 in March 2013.

The ISOs are usually first built for QA testing around 10 days before they are due for release. They go through a number of builds normally before they are released to the mirrors, as any major blocking bugs are fixed. It is always a very busy 10 days as each build needs to be fully tested. Live ISOs are checked both in live mode and install, and the Installer ISOs are installed multiple times with each of the various desktop defaults. As you can imagine it's alot of work, so the more people taking part in doing the testing, the easier / quicker / better it becomes. To give you an idea just how much, Alpha 2 and 3 each went through 5 builds.

At the moment we are preparing for Mageia 3 Beta 1, we're expecting the first build on the 2nd or 3rd of December so I'm reaching out a little in advance to try and find some extra sets of eyes!

If you are able to take part in pre-release testing please let me know. I'm MrsB on IRC (#mageia-qa on irc.freenode.net), I'll keep a check here too.

Please also subscribe to the qa-discuss mailing list which you can find here https://ml.mageia.org/wwsympa-wrapper.f ... qa-discuss and say Hello. You can also email me directly if you wish at eeeemail at gmail dot com.

Announcements and qa team discussions take place there. We also have a team meeting on IRC once a week on a Thursday at 20:00 UTC (GMT) where you would be most welcome, so please come along and say Hi!

We're a friendly bunch and you don't need to be a guru to get involved.

Hope to speak with you soon!

Thanks
Claire
