i installed the final mageia and i got very close to the desktop this time.
i am installing on a raid 0 system , 64 bit. the release candidate worked
except the ati driver was broken. but i could get to a desktop using
vesa driver for video.

the rc worked as far as my hard drives were concerned , the betas did not.
and now the final seems to have regressed. my hard drives keep resetting
over and over and i cant quite make it to a desktop.


any ideas ?

i used my esata throttle which is not raided and got to a desktop.
its seems to be rather nice. i did change the background immediately.
the system seems fast.

my ati video card still does not work and am using vesa at reduced resolution for now.

Take a look at https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1471, in case that is the problem with your ATI card.

i just opened up magei control panel and was looking at my ati card and i got a
popup that mageia wanted to install 118 packages. i allowed it and changed
my resolution to 1920 by 1200 and rebooted. now its working fine.
