Cauldron will soon boil again

Postby ennael » May 25th, '12, 08:33

Hi there,

We plan to reopen cauldron this Sunday. Here are some details coming from boklm (sysadmin team) to handle this.

If you installed Mageia Beta or RC releases for testing, and want to stay with Mageia 2 stable release, it is time to check that you have Mageia 2 and not Cauldron medias configured in urpmi before new packages arrive in Cauldron.

You can see if you are using cauldron medias using mcc or with the following command :
$ urpmq --dump | grep cauldron

If you have cauldron medias, you can remove all medias using mcc or following command:
# urpmi.removemedia -a
And add Mageia 2 medias :
# urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist
or if you want to specify a server :
# urpmi.addmedia --distrib ftp://some_mirror/mageia/distrib/2/x86_64/

For packagers :
Packages svn will be branched on Sunday. Until it is branched, you should avoid new commits on packages.

You can continue commiting in soft repository. Don't forget to create a Mageia 2 branch for software that may need to have updates in Mageia 2.

Cheers

Mageia team

Hi.
I used Mageia Cauldron. The release of "2" for new updates stopped coming.
I checked on different servers with the release cauldron and new packages appearing constantly, and I have still empty.
So I removed all media and new media added to the cauldron, but the problem occurs.
"... the download failed: aria2 failed: finished with 3
there was a problem reading synthesis file for medium "

So how can I add carrier Cauldron to work? I added with the command
Code: Select all
urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist 'http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.cauldron.x86_64.list'

How fix it?

EDIT:

Im add media for Mandrivauser.de mageia cauldron but, add successful but still don't have any updates.

It's been my experiance with Mandriva Cooker that the
period ( length undefined ) after an official release
is one of the most dynamic times in the Cooker/Cauldron.
I'd give it a week or two before doing something
serious with it. My local mirror of Cauldron tells
me it's moving in BIG chunks. I suspect mostly
with name changes.

New cauldron packages have been built since sunday evening, and there are already quite a lot of those. Maybe your mirror has to sync fully first?
F.ex. take a look at http://ftp.mandrivauser.de/mirrors/Mage ... e/release/

Yep, that's a live view on the buildsystem, but the link to the mirror shows the whole lot of produced binary packages, which are much more ;)

Perl has just been upgraded and it may take some time for all of the affected packages to be re-built:

Yep, I figure about 40GB of downloads to sync up with Cauldron now.
That'll be tonight while I'm sleeping.

Just planning to upgrade 2 to cauldron because now it's good time because it don't need full distro upgrade and don't need to download tons of packages. :)

Upgraded my x86_64 laptop w/Radeon 4400 from Mageia 2 Final to Mageia 3 Cauldron using non-free boot iso. The upgrade went slow, but except for having to manually create an initrd file and tweak GRUB a little, I have not run into any major bugs yet...Much props folks!

Now there is no easy way to upgrade mageia 2 to cauldron, because there is going that big usr move and it takes much time to do it and it's faster to do just clean install.
