I have been trying the live CD of Mageia2 RC1, as I can't install until I have decided
whether to make it my new desktop. But I am having some problems with it.
The live CD boots satisfactorily until it gets to the row of 5 horizontal icons immediately
before the desktop appears. The first 4 icons (hard drive, tools, globe and desktop icons)
appear as normal, but there is no large 'K' icon. The KDE desktop then appears, but these
icons remain. Apart from these 4 icons, there are no other icons on the desktop and no
widget in the top right corner.
Click on the menu and nothing happens. Try clicking again and after about half a dozen tries,
the categories list appears. Click on a category to select a program and nothing happens.
Click on the other icons on the panel and nothing happens .
So, I logged out using CTL>ALT>BSP (couldn't log out from the desktop) and logged in again.
This time there were the normal desktop program icons and the top right corner widget, but
there was no panel! The four horizontal icons had gone.
I have run many live CD's, but this is the first time that anything like this has happened.
I'm at a loss to know what to do to get the live CD working.
I've tried two burns, but they are both the same.
Any suggestions, please?
Many thanks.
Keith.
