It's been available for Cauldron as RC1 since like 5 weeks ago. Also there may have been huge changes under the hood,
but for an enduser not much has changed, initial BluRay support has been added, subtitles have gotten a standalone context sub-menu,
and there's a small video windows in playlist view, also theme has been changed slightly, looks neater now IMHO.

Curiously, what do you mean by "even if it means starting everything over again" ?

On a related note, this notice would be at the wrong place, as package request should be done via bugzilla:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_repor ... ge_request
and currently we're already in version freeze, which basically means no new versions of packages, except for serious security issues or bugfixes.
vlc IMHO wouldn't qualify for either, IMHO.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

I just saw where VideoLan has released vlc 2.0.1, and they claim it does have numerous security and bug fixes. Can't verify it on my own, though.

My suggestion: If vlc is frozen solid at 2.0.0 for Mageia 2, an update to 2.0.1 should be considered as soon as is convenient (or sooner? ;) ) after the official release.

Security update for 2.0.1 was already pushed 2 days ago. We're in version freeze, but exceptions are given for pure security or bugfix releases.

BTW: There's no need to use fullquotes, even less when you answer directly to a post. Just disturbs reading flow and clarity ...
