Hi,

I am getting some errors while trying to run update on my Mageia 2 Beta 1 installation.

error: rpmdb: Thread/process 14154/3073590976 failed: Thread died in Berkeley DB library
error: db4 error(-30974) from dbenv->failchk: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
error: cannot open Packages index using db4 -  (-30974)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
unable to open rpmdb

Here is how I tried to troubleshoot -

[*]Tried to change the update mirrors - hit upon the "unable to open rpmdb" error.
[*]Searched the mageia forum with "db4 error(-30974)" - no earlier posts found.

Any pointers to solving the issue?

I found this posted as a solution in a few places -

rpmdb --rebuilddb

And it solved my problem too. I was able to run the update. Hope this is helpful for any that encounter the issue. Marking the post as solved.

"db4 error" would have been enough to find the relevant thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2063

Yes. I can see that it's an unresolved issue also being tracked with a bug. The problem seems to have resurfaced for me too, today morning (PST). I'll remove the [SOLVED] tag.

Please show the output of
rpm -qa | grep rpmdrake

rpmdrake should have version 5.30-2.mga2 - with this version the problem was fixed here.

Yup, I get rpmdrake-5.30-2.mga2.
