Annoying "more"s in the app menu

Postby TabletHater » Mar 15th, '12, 23:50

Is it possible to disable the "more" menus in the Mageia (LXDE and KDE) app menu? Sorry if this is not something related to Cauldron, but I've been asked to use this forum.

No, it's not related to Cauldron, so it should probably be in basic support, but for what it' worth:

I find it also rather annoying, because it just adds clutter to the menu and it's also not consistent.
For an easy workaround, you can just use a menu editor and put everything from "More" submenus one level up, that's what i'm doing.

If you want to change this properly, this is defined in our XDG menu definition: /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu
To understand that, you may want to have a look at the freedesktop menu specification which this is implemented upon: http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-s ... atest.html
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!

Wow! I would think the solution would be just a couple of click away! So it's because of the freedesktop standarts. Then those standarts seriously need a reform! It's not only clutter, it really tries hard to make users life more difficult! Sound & Video -- three apps --more -- six apps. Such an implementation is needles and cumbersom, even when one has zillions of apps and reach the end of his/her screen bottom. Scrolling is perfectly adequate. Anyway will look into that file. Thanks again.

It's impossible for me to decipher this. That guy, Freedesktop, has got the worst kind of enemy now! Don't tell me it's easy in KDE Dok?

Well, thanks to kmenuedit, it's just a matter of drag&drop and takes one minute if you're good with the mouse 8-)
Also FreeDesktop is not a guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedesktop.org ;)
