Can play youtube videos only if embedded in another website

I can play this embedded youtube video: http://www.ted.com/talks/questions_no_o ... rs_to.html.

But I can't play it (or any other) in youtube itself. If I enable experimental html5 feauter in youtube, I can see the video but without any sound.

All this in Firefox and I can't install Opera as it has a curious dependency of the evil pulseaudio!

This video works in the link you gave and it works in youtube.com, highest quality, full screen, sound ok.
I use Mageia 1 with default Firefox package (9.0.1).

:)
Sorry for not being more clear. There must be something wrong with my system. Haven't installed many gstreamer things, pulse, xine, mplayer. I've another problem with sound as well (in another thread). Hoped someone could easily point this one out.

Ok, haven't read the other thread.
Here I only wanted to confirm that the video on youtube.com is ok and that the problem must be caused by your hardware, by your sound configuration or something entirely different on your side.

Video works normally here as well.
Please take a look at viewtopic.php?f=34&t=880 and if the problem still persists, provide a bit more information, like:
- which flash plugin is used, which version
- which browser version is used

Side-note: Pulseaudio is not evil, that's only a myth which seriously needs debunking.

Yes, I had read that thread. I use the latest Firefox and non-free Flash from the Mageia 2 package manager. All right, I'll use ex-youtube Firefox addon to play flash videos in Minitube or VLC or try Chrome.

You haven't noted yet that this is with cauldron, you should have posted that in the appropriate subforum or write it explicitely so people know.

Minor nit: Latest doesn't tell anything, please give exact version numbers. What does rpm -qa | grep -e firefox -e flash say?

Sorry again. Being noob I'm conditioned to use "Basic support". Here it is:

Code: Select all
[burak@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa | grep -e firefox -e flash
firefox-en_GB-10.0.2-2.mga2
flash-player-plugin-11.1.102.63-1.mga2.nonfree
firefox-10.0.2-5.mga2
[burak@localhost ~]$
