Importing shortcut settings from Mageia 1 to Cauldron

Postby mrigs » Mar 4th, '12, 04:59

Hello All,

I just installed Mageia 2 (beta) as a third OS on my system already running Mageia 1 and Windows Vista. In Mageia 1 I had configured several shortcuts in KDE for frequently used tasks (say, Meta + D to minimize all windows, etc.). Is there a way all these shortcuts can be imported into the newly installed Mageia 2 beta? And what about application preferences, like say, using Deluge to open .torrent files instead of Ktorrent?

-regards,

Yes, there is. For the latter, that would be saved in ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
and or the former, that should be either ~/.kde4/share/config/kglobalshortcutsrc or ~/.kde4/share/config/khotkeysrc
but i'm not quite sure.
After copying it to your beta installation changes should take effect after logging out and back in again or after running
Code: Select all
kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

Thank you doktor5000. This solution seems to be working for the application preferences. Shortcuts are partially working.

Anyway, I won't be duplicating them in the Beta installation any more. Beta 1 seems very stable for my use and so I replaced my Mageia 1 installation with Mageia 2 Beta.

Thanks again!
