Duplicate process ??

Hi,

I looked on my activity manager (CTRL ESC) recently, and I see a lot of process with the same name, and the same use of memory.

For exemple
akonadi_agent_lancher : 6 process
agetty : 5 process
ext4-dio-unwrit : 6 process (one for each partition I think ?)
gnome_keyring_daemon : 2 process
kdm : 2 process
mount.ntfs-3g : 2 process
nepomukserver : 2 process
smbd : 2 process
udevd : 3 process

Are they all normal ? All duplicate are on the same user.(either root or mine)
I think if this is the case, it will be better to find a way to show a difference between them, at least to have a way to kill the right one if needed. It would also seem less buggy for windows user(on windows, it's rarely a good sign to have multiple process with the same name).

I would not call those processes duplicated, for they all have their own unique Process-ID (PID).
So the processes appearing in your activity manager have all their own purpose and serve their own tasks.
Maybe you should take a look at the command pstree in konsole, you can also execute pstree yourusername, to have a listing of processes owned by that particular user.
It will give you some insight into the structure of processes.

My question was more :is it normal to start 5 or 6 time all these process ?
To have 2 nepomuk server seems more strange than one for me... but maybe there is 2 different task with the same name.
