Hi Guys,

running the latest kernel and updates but it seems I now have a corrupt RPM database.

$ urpmi --auto-update
medium "Core Release (distrib1)" is up-to-date
medium "Core Updates (distrib3)" is up-to-date
medium "Core Backports (distrib7)" is up-to-date
medium "Nonfree Release (distrib11)" is up-to-date
medium "Nonfree Updates (distrib13)" is up-to-date
medium "Nonfree Backports (distrib17)" is up-to-date
medium "Tainted Release (distrib21)" is up-to-date
medium "Tainted Updates (distrib23)" is up-to-date
medium "Tainted Backports (distrib27)" is up-to-date
medium "Core 32bit Release (distrib31)" is up-to-date
medium "Core 32bit Updates (distrib33)" is up-to-date
error: rpmdb: Thread/process 20959/140444433237760 failed: Thread died in Berkeley DB library
error: db4 error(-30974) from dbenv->failchk: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
error: cannot open Packages index using db4 - (-30974)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
unable to open rpmdb


Any ideas about regenerating or fixing it??

Check http://www.oldrpm.org/hintskinks/repairdb/

Code: Select all
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
rpm -vv --rebuilddb

as root should get it going again.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

Thankyou once again doktor.. got it working just fine. System seems a bit unstable but I'll try the just installed kernel and post if I'm still having issues.
