Cauldron network ISO missing kernel?

I downloaded the latest Cauldron non-free ISO and other than the grub menu, it tells me it cannot find the kernel.
I booted using UEFI, but with secure boot disabled.
Mangeia 9 was released in 2023 with KDE 5. I'm looking for KDE 6 and not really wanting to go through the whole upgrade if possible.

I've used the netinstall cauldron iso a few times and never ran into that. I'd say either a bad download or bad burn of the iso.
I think you should download it again and be sure to use the checksum to verify the iso.
Get it here
https://www.mageia.org/en-gb/downloads/ ... x86_64.iso or pick a good mirror and get it there.

It might help if you would mention what you actually downloaded, and also if you verified the checksum.
Apart from that, the cauldron netinstall images do not use grub at all. Maybe you can add a screenshot what you select and from the error message.

Burn the ISO to a CD rather a USB drive.
I've seen that error before when booting to a USB drive.

They make PCs without CD / DVD drives. This is something you will need to address.

You didn't answer some of the previous questions, like what you actually downloaded, and also if you verified the checksum?
Also, if you did boot from USB (you didn't mention) how did you write the ISO to the USB drive?

I assumed it was obvious, after my follow-up, that I had done as instructed.
Yes, downloaded the ISO a 2nd time.
Yes, I checked all 3 sums available and they passed.
Yes, I correctly burned the ISO to USB.
I have this feeling that the development does not know how to fix this and is looking for user error. If I am wrong, I apologize, but it is 2025, and I am being instructed to try a CD or DVD. I have not burned one in almost a decade. But I do have a USB CD / DVD drive I can plug in and try, if that is required, but really it should not be.

I instructed you to use a method that has worked for me and tons of people still use CDs. All three of my laptops have CD/DVD burners and I have an external burner I use on the machines that do not have have them.
Yes, it should work from a USB drive. I have found that it generally does not. We are not developers. We are forum moderators. If you want, file a bug report.

If you will not respond to the request for information, it does make it difficult to assist.

perhaps you could try this. I am guessing you already use a grub bootloader =>
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Installing_M ... sing_grub2this method requires no "burning" of the iso.
another suggestion is to use "ventoy" to boot the install.iso.
since its a bit later now, Just dowloaded this net-install.iso: Mageia-Cauldron-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64
setup virtualbox as UEFI device with the above .iso as boot medium, and booted without issue.

I tried Ventoy - Same error.
I do not think the people who build the ISO, know how to build an ISO.

faulty USBs can result in your issue, yes, even new ones.
Have you tried a different USB device?

Yes, and I used those USBs to boot up other Linux distros, so it's just Mangeia.

For some reason, you don't want to answer this fundamental question:

Because it should not matter. Does not matter. Cannot matter.
Your ISO works with burning, or does not. That is all. And people who look to blame on the tool, are looking to pass the buck.
But since you want to be that person:
* Rufus - Because I imagine a Windows user would want to use your distro.
* balena Etcher - Because I imagine a Windows or Apple or Linux users would want to use your disto
* Fedora Image Writer - Because, again, I would imagine someone from Windows or Linux, burning your ISO
* Ventoy - Has its own tool, burns itself, and you just copy over the ISO, no burning required.
* dd - I do not expect anyone except a hardcore Linux user to do this, from the command line, but did it anyway.
So, where would you like to find fault in the user, now? Since we know it is not the burning tool, and we know it is not the USB, since those work. I'll wait.

Furthermore, here is my hardware profile from a few months ago running OpenMandriva

linuxisbest We're just trying to help and are not mindreaders. We just need to know the process that leads to the error.
Now, tone it down. No need to be snippy about it.
