I have just had a problem with my Mageia 9 setup in Plasma (and IceWm) where video playback in Firefox stopped working.
Online videos would just hang after loading.
Got a test mp4 file and dropped into Firefox, not playing. Parole Media player did not play the video. VLC would play the file.
Downloaded Chromium, video would not play.
Saw one reference online to possible audio issues might be cause a video playback problem.
Eventually found my Audio volume icon on my plasma taskbar had the choice to swap line out between 2 choices...
When I changed the LineOut option (Analog Stereo Output to Analog Stereo Duplex) the video would start playing in the browser...
Checking my Audio Sound setting in MCC >Hardware >Sound Configuration, I was told I had BOTH Pulse and Pipewire installed and that could be a problem, was prompted to select one or the other. My Mageia-9 has been installed from the Alpha stage and now has been continually upgraded to the Beta. Guess there may have been the addition of Pipewire in the process.
I chose Pipewire with WirePlumber and it installed task-pipewire meta package.
On reboot all was fixed.
Now my test mp4 file and online video play in both browsers and the Parole media player. ie System wide.
So if Video stops working in browsers and possibly the desktop environment, check your Audio settings in case a conflict there might be the problem.
Who would have thought the visuals could be affected by how you hear

Cheers
