Hi all,

I have multiple laptops i could use for testing a beta iso. I looked around in here some but can't seem to find a link for a download. Too soon to ask?

Cheers

Computers currently in use:

1 W530 Think Pad with i7 and 16GB RAM

2 Think Pad Carbon X1, one is i5 (4GB RAM) and one is i7 (8GB RAM)

I might be able to help with testing related to portable use.

I went to the QA pages and will try to volunteer in there if I can find some way to help. Maybe I can do bug squashing or some other activity.

Cheers

yes. just a bit early. you can still test cauldron by installing via a Mga8 net-install .iso and trying it out. just point the installer to cauldron instead of 8 by replacing the /8/ with /cauldron/, i.e: ../../../8/.......(.../../../cauldron/......)

If you would like to be involved in testing the iso images, please subscribe to the qa discuss mailing list,
and post a message there requesting addition to the list of iso testers.

The current list of testers is at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_ISO_testers.
You are welcome to join, as Mageia is a community distro, made by the community, for the community. Thanks for the offer.

My current test equipment: Athon xp2400+ on MSI m/b desktop (32bit), Core i5 on Gigabyte P8B75-M LX desktop, Compaq 8510w, Compaq Presario C700, Acer C710, Acer C730, Asus U31F, Asus U31S, Asus X54C, Asus T100TA (32bit UEFI), Linx 7 tablet (32bit UEFI), hp probook 4520s*, Toshiba r930 Portege, Toshiba L650.

Another method is to do a minimal install of Mageia 8. I.e xfce desktop. Then upgrade.

Hi all,

I have two old 32 bit laptops as well but as I mentioned in another post I believe 32 bit support ends soon in next April. Correct?

Cheers

in the Ubuntu universe, this is correct, however, Mageia (& Debian) are apart from Ubuntu, so for Mageia at least, 32bit support will continue until it becomes untenable.

Please do help with testing! We would all appreciate that.

Early beta/alpha access is restricted: For many reasons, one of the main ones being bandwidth preservation.

Please add yourself to this page if you'd like to be a tester: You can also join the irc channels and mailing lists.

Hi all,

Good news about the 32 bit version remaining as I thought the coming death of support for 32 bit architecture was universal, not just Debian based. A good reason to repurpose the little Net Book Acer that currently is running Mint 19.3 which is their last version for that and it ends in April 23.
