Mageia 8 Cauldron Missing GIMP-Python Package

Hello,

Python plug-ins are not working in GIMP 2.10.18. The Filters> Python-fu menu option is also missing.

After a little troubleshooting I found that the "gimp-python" package is missing and is the cause.
I don't know if it's a result of changes in GIMP but it appears that other distros are able to use python plug-ins in GIMP 2.10 and higher.
I tried to install gimp-python-2.10.10-1.6.mga7.x86_64 from Mageia 7 but it errors and says cannot install due to "unsatisfied pygtk2.0".
The "pygtk2.0" package is not available either.

As I said, I haven't been able to find anything that said GIMP was going to quit using python plug-ins.
I did find where other distros are having issues with the missing gimp-python, too, and have labeled it as "optional".

Gimp 2.10.10: no python scripts any more

Thank you.

hi

if it is an issue for you, you should raise a bug report / enhancement request.
please link back to here.
In saying that, it may be that the python plugin has not yet been updated.

That's what I'm thinking. There's a lot of GIMP users and I'd think someone has noticed, especially with other distros spotting the problem.
I was asking in case someone knew for sure, but I'll look around more and make sure to report it if it appears nobody has.
