ANSWERED: Upgrading to new version

Postby WetGeek » Jun 14th, '19, 22:29

I've installed the Mageia 7 RC onto a VM and also onto an SSD in a development workstation for testing.

When 7.0 is released, will it be possible to upgrade the installed RCs to the released version by simply installing package updates, or will the new version require a fresh new installation from the ISO? Or perhaps the installer will offer an "Update" option?

short answer = yes.

long answer => be sure that your on-line media is set up to "7" not "cauldron", they should be anyway.

also, run the following as root
Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update

this should pick up any updates created since your .iso was created

also, as a handy tip, add "tainted" media, as well as the 32bit core, non-free and tainted & updates, if you are runnlng a 64bit release. (total 12 + installer core and non-free)
