[SOLVED] plasma crashing

Postby eric71 » Apr 21st, '11, 20:47

I just updated this evening (beta1, fully updated from cauldron), and upon rebooting and logging in from KDM, I get a popup about plasma crashing. I need to use cntrl-alt-backspace to get back to KDM. Something about a kdeinit4 segfault. Same for all users on this computer. Renaming the .kde4 folder to reset things doesn't help. Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem? Icewm is a little depressing after KDE 4.6.2. I want it back.

The latest round of updates has now fixed this. A very short-lived problem.

For the record, I had a very similar problem. Ended up uninstalling Mageia just to recover use of the system.

So thanks for posting back that the latest update fixed it. Maybe I'll give it another go.

@ House
I had the same problem, the updates early this morning fixed it.
But, I think, you shouldn't get into trouble by uninstalling and now have to install again. You could use Icewm desktop (it's always installed too)
to have access to your files and system. Or in mageia, Alt+F2, then in Konsole type the program name you wanted. Only the plasma-desktop was crashed,
every application was launcing.

I hope I helped for future -may never happen again- similar problems.

Bye
John
