[SOLVED] How to blacklist nouveau at mageia 7 beta2?

Postby adhefe » Mar 14th, '19, 03:02

I'm new in mageia.

I'm trying to use mageia 7 beta2. This is a hybrid graphics laptop. I was able to boot mageia in live mode only when I edit the linux line to include instructions to blacklist nouveau.
Following tips to proceed the installation of mageia 7 in the disc, I finally got it installed. However, upon booting the system I tried to edit the linuxefi line to blacklist nouveau but it didn't work.
The graphical mode doesn't start.
I boot in recovery mode and edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-mga.conf to insert blacklist nouveau but no luck as well.

Thus, I'm looking for tips on how to blacklist nouveau in mageia 7 beta2.

Thanks

I blacklist nouveau with the following instructions:

rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau driver.blacklist=nouveau xorg.blacklist=nouveau

The point is that I was inserting this at the proper boot kernel line linuxefi but in a wrong place.
I've found a link where it was said to insert it after vga=8000 and when I did it everything was OK.

There in that link I also read that I should edit /etc/default/grub line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT to include the blacklisting commands at the end.

I could not find that link again,

Thanks a lot
