Upgrading 6 > 7.Beta1 with Mageia Online

Postby fossiili » Dec 22nd, '18, 16:43

I have downloaded the Mageia-7-beta1-x86_64.iso but unfortunately for some problems with UEFI I can not get my pc to start from the dvd
I have seen that the tool Mageia Online could be used to do the netupgrade. But how to install it :?:
With MCC or dnf:
Code: Select all
[ukki@localhost ~]$ su
Salasana:
[root@localhost ukki]# dnf install mageiaonline
Viimeinen metatiedon vanhenemistarkistus : 1 day, 4:42:47 sitten, ajankohta pe 21. joulukuuta 2018 11.22.22.
No match for argument: mageiaonline
Virhe: Unable to find a match
[root@localhost ukki]#

The package name is mgaonline. But online upgrades won't be enabled until Mageia 7 is released. You need stable repositories to perform a successful upgrade, and cauldron is nowhere near stable at the moment.

You should open a bug report for your problem with booting from the DVD.

If you are using dnf, you may use # dnf system-upgrade.

I would use either dnf or urpmi, but not both.

Try logged in as root.

Code: Select all
# dnf install python3-dnf-plugin-system-upgrade

# dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=cauldron

That downloads all needed packages, and then

Code: Select all
# dnf system-upgrade reboot

The upgrade process will start after next boot. I tested this sucessfully some months ago.

Thank you fo your exact advice, I succeeded in the upgrading :D

The dnf system-upgrade download found fourteen errors "Virhe" like:
Code: Select all
Virhe:

  - lib64gdbm4-1.12-1.mga6.x86_64 does not belong to a distupgrade repository
  - problem with installed package lib64python3.5-stdlib-3.5.3-1.4.mga6.x86_64
Ongelma 2: package lib64solv0-0.6.30-1.mga6.x86_64 requires libsolv-tools = 0.6.30-1.mga6, but none of the providers can be installed

Ongelma 3: package libgfortran3-5.5.0-1.mga6.x86_64 requires libquadmath0 = 5.5.0-1.mga6, but none of the providers can be installed
  - libquadmath0-5.5.0-1.mga6.x86_64 does not belong to a distupgrade repository
  - problem with installed package libgfortran3-5.5.0-1.mga6.x86_64
Ongelma 4: package x11-driver-video-nvidia340-340.106-1.mga6.nonfree.x86_64 requires xserver-abi(videodrv) < 24, but none of the providers can be installed

 Ongelma 5: package kernel-desktop-4.9.35-1.mga6-1
But by:
Code: Select all
try to add '--allowerasing' to command line to replace conflicting packages
everything seemed to go well!
I continue by using Mageia7 Beta

Hi,

The preliminary check of dnf is indeed impressive. I did not use urpmi since long, and I am no expert. If I remember well, urpmi would start and crash in the middle of the transaction.

@ fossiili

You probably will have to check the repolist to continue work with dnf. Please provide the output of
Code: Select all
# dnf repolist --refresh
