Can not I roll back to 6?

Postby xlin » Jul 24th, '17, 17:34

I've used Cauldron for a long time, but after the release of version 6, my system was updated to 7. Can not I roll back to 6?

There are always errors in the repositories, there can not be any dependencies. DNF does not work.

If you use cauldron, and then don't switch your repos to the stable release during the final freeze then you will stay at cauldron, it has always been like that.
You could try to switch all your repos to mga6 and then try to downgrade all the mga7 packages to the respective mga6 packages via
urpmi --downgrade <names of packages> or via dnf downgrade <names of packages> but for urpmi you need to specify the version of the package that you want to downgrade to, if I remember correctly.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

You could try disabling the Cauldron repos and distro-sync back, but if it detects a dependency issue, you need to manually resolve and downgrade before it'll work.

Code: Select all
$ sudo dnf config-manager --set-disabled=cauldron-x86_64
$ sudo dnf --releasever=6 distro-sync
$ sudo dnf remove mageia-repos-cauldron

Obviously, there may be more work involved.
