can't update

Postby segfault » Sep 18th, '11, 04:30

Hey guys,

It's been maybe a week since I got this issue. I can't update the cauldron anymore. Here is the stuff:
Code: Select all
[root@localhost corneliu]# urpmi.update -a
medium "Core Release" is up-to-date
medium "Core Updates" is up-to-date
medium "Core Updates Testing" is up-to-date
medium "Core Backports" is up-to-date

[root@localhost corneliu]# urpmi --auto-select
error: dbiOpen: dbapi 1 not available
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
unable to open rpmdb
[root@localhost corneliu]#

How do I fix this thing?

Thank you in advance,

Corneliu

Maybe you shouldn't have used updates_testing under cauldron, only if you're eager for serious breakage, and you got that :)
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

After bugging the responsible developer (dmorgan on IRC) he told me the following:

He's working on it.

In the meantime you can fix it by:
Code: Select all
rpm -Uvh ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/updates_testing/perl-URPM-3.38.4-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm
(or from any other mirror, if you have a preferred one) and don't use urpmi to update this package, after that you can use urpmi again ;)
EDIT: Currently you may have perl-URPM-3.38.4-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm from core/release installed, in that case you should use rpm -Uvh --force
Please report if this worked.
