gnome-shell fallback session with open-source ati driver

Hi mighty boiler makers

I want to give a try at gnome-shell with mageia cauldron on a laptop with an Radeon HD 4570 (M92 chip name), but I face several problems

1/ with fglrx ati proprietary drivers, gnome-shell launches correctly (no fallback session) but the top panel is corrupted. This is a known issue of the catalyst driver http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=99 that should be fixed for the next release.

2/ with open-source (my choice of heart) ati driver (x11-driver-video-ati rpm), the normal gnome-shell session (with activities) is disabled and I end up with the fallback session (a mix between gnome2 and gnome3).

So my question is : is it the state of the art ? No real gnome-shell experience with HD4570/open source driver or is there something I did wrong ?

When connected with the fallback session, the system information says that the graphic card driver is : software rasterizer. Not very good is it ?

Thank you PietroTux88, but I already know that. I was asking about open source drivers not ati proprietary.
