[SOLVED]mga6 sta1 Install: Error Adding Online Media

Hi,

With the intention to test it out, I was installing from the classic 64bit DVD, and all was going well until I got to the "online media" section.

I selected "Yes" to add online media, then after a few minutes I got a pop-up box that said there was an error adding the media. There was a long list in the pop-up box that indicated an MD5SUM error on basically all the media that it tried to install. (I wish I had gotten a screenshot but the pop-up box disappeared when I clicked outside of it)

Is this normal with Cauldron? Or do I need to file a bug report?

If there is something I can do post-install to reproduce this error / correct this, please let me know.

Seems normal, as the mirrors are updated often and you need to be lucky to get it to respond when the mirror you're using is in a self-consistent state. Sometimes the mirror even syncs during net installation, so that can also lead to the installation crashing in the middle.

There still seems to be a problem post-install. I tried to add media using Mageia Control Center, and I got the following error pop-up:

Unable to add medium, errors reported:

unable to parse media.cfg

Medium: distrib ()


EDIT: on IRC I was instructed to use a specific mirror. I successfully added all the relevant media using the command:

urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirror http://mageia.webconquest.com/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/
