Seafile

This an opensource system of software for syncing data between devices through a server.
The client is now packaged in cauldron.
If you are using seafile (having an account), it will be interesting to have your feedback about this packaging. Install seafile-client.

Just for reference, even though it's not directly related - recently an opensource cloud service started as public & free beta,
which integrates libreoffice, KDE and seafile into a cloud offering with some free online storage. You could think about it as something like MS Office365, but opensource :)
You even get a free seafile account with it - so grab one as long as they're free.

See https://open365.io/

@ papoteur: thanks, i will try maybe next week (my cauldrons are in production and can not be experimented with ATM)
Any plans for packaging the server? Would be interesting to compare to owncloud.

@ doctor: good tip. For some reason Firefox do not download the install file att https://cloud.open365.io/applogin/firstTime.html# but chromium worked, got a .deb file :/ also https://open365.io/download.html no rpm yet. Will try later, grass is growing fast this time of year...

@papoteur: Great! Thanks. I see there already is seafile-server packaged too, but i have no time to test now.

Yesterday I updated my workstation to cauldron. (Needed a bit manual work but is OK now. I really needed some updated programs for my work so i had to bite the bullet)
A couple days ago i signed up with Open365. Connected my android phone. I see the system is beta alright but works.
I have now installed seafile-client on my workstation.

__Helpful notes to others
§ First i urpmi seafile, then i realised i need seafile-client (which pulls in the other)
§ It is started by seafile-applet ... or use start menu of course
§ For Open365 the seafile server is https://cloud.open365.io.sync and your login is yourusername@open365.io

Quick test OK: i can drop a folder on it and it syncs.
EDIT: Test: Updated libreoffice file online. It downloaded. Used web file browser to revert: OK: synced down automatically with original file date. /EDIT
I think I like it, but no time for hard testing or comparing now

@ papoteur: the seafile system tray icon is visible but do not respond to click.
(WORKAROUND: just "start" seafile-client again; it will not start another session, just bring up the window)

The new name of KDE in Mageia 6.
I wonder if the problem is related to Plasma, as I know that some system tray icons are not working.

Plasma 5 (Next) is basically the desktop of KDE 5, and KDE Frameworks 5 (aka KF5) are the KDE libraries that are being used. See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE#KDE_software

Ah thanks.

So I use Plasma 5 with KDE 5 on KF5 then, on Mageia 6 64 bit.

Or...?? i have task-plasma5-minimal 5.6.0, but also still have kdebase4 etc installed, and lib64kdeui5 - "KDE 4 core library". (all mga6)

This machine where i installed Seafile was updated online using urpmi (with some manual interventions) from mga5 to mga6, and it had and have KDE (and more or less of xfce, lxde, cinnamon, gnome, icewm-light, mate which i havent yet tried since update - installed as alternate DE in case KDE breaks, and some programs belonging to those DE are nice also run from KDE. )

Let's make it simpler, you use kde on mga6. kde 4 libraries are still required for a few programs which have not yet been ported to KF5.

More tests: the applet works on Cinnamon, MATE, LXQt, LXDE, Xfce.
But not on Plasma (selected "Plasma" at login)
At login i can also choose KDE4 or Plasma(Wayland) but both fail.

Thus, the problem is Plasma, not seafile-client or our packaging of it.
Thanks for the testing ;)

I'm surprised that you get KDE4 choice. This should be reported as a migration bug, I think.
