Events not showing in item-viewer in KOrganizer [solved]

Postby flavianoep » Jun 26th, '23, 20:20

Hello!

I am having a problem with KOrganizer and I can't find help anywhere else. When I click in an event in KOrganizer, it does not show in the item-viewer. It seems to be a problem in Mageia, as it works fine in another computer with OpenSuse with an older version of the application. I've tried creating a new user to see if the problem persists and is not related to my user, and it had the same behavior. Should I file a bug report?

I'm using Kontact version 5.23.1 (23.04.1) with KDE Frameworks 5.105.0 and Qt version 5.15.7 (buit against 5.15.7). My version of Mageia is 9 beta2.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to our forum :)
Beta2 was a while ago.
- So first question: Have you performed a full update?
Also, make sure task-plasma5 is installed so you have all parts of desktop really installed.
After that..
If you start korganizer in a terminal (i.e konsole) and use it, does there show any interesting output?

Thanks for answering.
I installed first Beta1 then have been updating everything through mga-applet. I think it's a full update or should I dump an image to a thumbdrive and install from there?
task-plasma5 is installed.
Starting korganizer in a terminal gives the following output:
org.kde.pim.korganizer: Error occurred "" "Unable to create persistent search"
org.kde.pim.korganizer: Error occurred "" "Unable to create persistent search"
Should I install the system again?

Hrmf. I installed korganizer now to test and for me it is worse on first launch, notably:
Code: Select all
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Database error: Cannot open database.
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver:   Last driver error: "QMYSQL: Unable to connect"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver:   Last database error: "Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'akonadi'"

I may have old database left from an old test years back on this /home.
I shut it down and started again. GUI looks OK, despite many complaints in terminal.

I made an event.

I had to select a calendar in left bottom part of panel, to make events show in the calendar view.

There are reasons i use pen and paper for important stuff...

Hi,

I did not use KOrganizer in Cauldron so far and I am not aware of this "Item Viewer". I don't see anything that refers to the sidebar under Settings -> Configure KOrganizer. Perhaps the documentation is outdated?

I activated the calendars and created a test event including a reminder, but the reminder didn't show. I will keep on testing.

When I start KOrganizer in a terminal I get the same message. The calendars are ticked off then.

Best regards,
Bequimão

Edit: Sorry, Followup Reminder refers to KMail.
Yes, the event shows only if you hover with the mouse over it. It is a different behaviour. I understand the opening post only just now.

I will skip that. I do not use KO, and problem seem odd maybe caused by old tests in previous mga release, inherited /home.
