At this time of Mageia 1 Life , KDE SC 4.7.x won't make it as an update for Mageia 1

Ah, someone who can really give an answer without dancing around the question :D
Thank you indeed.

-> we don't have enough people in QA to properly test it ( 4.6.5 is already since quite a long time in testing for example)
-> there is the kdepim changes in KDE SC 4.7 (kmail2 is still slow, migration is not perfect & if kmail2 is now far more stable then it was in KDEPIM SC 4.5 or 4.6 there's still several bugs to fix), as reminder we provided kdepim 4.4.11 with Mageia 1
-> there's several changes on packaging for KDE SC 4.7 which means more works for a small team like Mageia is.

So in summary i really doubt that KDE SC 4.7 will land on Mageia 1 and i personally won't push it as backports for Mageia 1 in it's current state.

It looks like kmail2 is a big rock on the way...?
In my cauldron environment I didn't use kmail2. The other parts (kabc, korganizer, ...) looked good to me. I especially appreciated akonadi resources for google calendar... that's what I wanted for a long time. I don't need to install GCALDaemon anymore to let my korganizer and google calendar become good friends.

It will be a pity if KDE 4.7 (AFAIK, they don't use SC anymore...) won't land in mageia 1. It means I have to wait for a long, long time...

You can install kcaldav on Mageia1 to get a caldav support for korganizer if you don't want to use akonadi-googledata

So I've updated to KDE 4.6.5 from update_testing. I didn't see anything wrong these days.
What else can I do for testing it? Do you have a list to test or...?

Just wanted to drop a note that KDE 4.6.5 has been pushed to updates today and should hit mirrors soon.

Now 4.7.1 is released. Would anyone please tell me what we can do to help KDE 4.7 landing on Mageia 1 backports?

I know the answer. I just tried to ask if you would change your mind.

KDE 4.6.5 has been pushed into update. Mageia 2 will have to wait for at least half a year. We'll not be able to upgrade to KDE 4.7 if I don't want to use cauldron in at least six months. I just want to know if things can change and go faster if more people (at least me) can help.

Well, the answer includes the options. Mikala described the reasons which made him "really doubt that KDE SC 4.7 will land on Mageia 1". As these reasons are based on technical facts it is a logical consequence that anything which alters/changes/fixes these facts/reasons/problems may as well change his doubts.

So, yes, if there were more people who could work on the described issues then the situation may change. This applies to many of the decisions/issues concerning updating/bugfixing/whatever.

Well my doubts not really changed :/
Since KDE SC 4.8 should be available just in time for Mageia 2 ( by just in time i mean we should be able to provide KDE SC 4.8.2), maybe i'll reconsider the situation for mageia1 for a « last » update. (so probably not until at least KDE SC 4.7.5) if in the same time we can get more QA people to test packages (not only kde's related).
Please note that there's several packages to build/rebuild not related directly to KDE too, introduction of some news librairies so this mean a lot of work for the QA team.
