[SOLVED ] Disabling net-applet

I have previously reported a bug that occurs in the E21/21 install where net-applet conflicts with connman: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19344.

Presumably the way to disable net-applet as shown in a couple of posts here is:

echo "AUTOSTART=FALSE" > ~/.net_applet

However, even though drakx-net, drakx-net-applet, and drakx-net-text show as being installed, thre is no ".net_applet" in the home directory. Both Network Center and NetApplet appear on the E menus, although only the former works.

Is there another way to kill these services so that connman can be used in E?

Well the command you quoted would create that file, it's not there by default. But you can also disable the autostart via net_applet itself via right-click.

Sometime my stupidity amazes me. Of course, that command creates the file!

OK, test accomplished, unfortunately something else is going on as connman recognizes the available wifis, but still will not allow me to log in. I will poke around more . . . .
