What happened to pipelight?

Postby MadmanRB » May 1st, '15, 13:26

I have just installed Mageia5 RC to give it a try anbd one thing I must ask, what happened to pipleight?
I thought it was going to be included in mageia 5 in its restricted repos?
What happened?
Will I have to use the third party repo now?

Edit well cant use the version from the old fds repo so Mageia is out, sorry I wont use Mageia 5 until it has pipelight compatibility, I still need it to watch amazon instant video.
Back to Ubuntu or openSUSE, sad to say.
Will try it again in five months after the official release, but why the pipelight was removed from mageia is beyond me, its still needed for silverlight reliant websites and drm flash.
With no official package Mageia 5 is out of the picture for my needs, Ubuntu has it, openSUSE has it, fedfora has it, arch has it.
I dont get it and I feel cheated and lied to, Mageia 5 promised to have pipelight in the repos

pipelight has not been removed, it had never been added to Mageia repositories.
It still requires a custom-patched bleeding-edge wine version, and as Mageia 5 final has not been released yet, how do you assume that the pipelight developers build a stable package for Mageia 5?

If you are so inclined to use pipelight, and if you would have read the complete bug report you would know that based on the explanations from the upstream pipelight developers.
Guessing that you were the guy that did the last few comments there, this just tells me that you didn't even invest enough time to read the comments there thoroughly.
And then it makes me wonder even more why you put this question up here, when all the questions are already answered in that bugreport.

Furthermore, as the pipelight and wine source packages from fds team are available, you could easily rebuild them yourself for Mageia 5. Instructions are available e.g. at viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5530
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!
