It seems after everything we told you about Cauldron that you didn't get the purpose of a development release.

Mageia has not confirmed being a rolling release or not, even if it is definitely not rolling for the moment. Cauldron is an unstable distribution and should be reserved to experienced users; e.g. at the moment, a KDE4 process eats most of the CPU of all KDE4 users on Cauldron, and that would be really annoying for unexperienced users.
So Mageia begins nothing "today", Mageia uses the same process as Mandriva does: Cauldron rolls for a while until a specific date. Then the developers stop adding major updates and concentrate on having the whole distribution stable. And only then can Mageia 2 be released, and Mageia 2 won't be rolling.

Just to add a word about this "rolling release" thing : we'll be trying to provide many updated applications in backports media. You can already find some of them in backports_testing media to help test them.

Mageia 1 + backports = a kind of rolling release, but limited to packages from which no other package depends, mainly end-user applications.
