no root prompt for gui apps that need it

Postby thardy01 » Nov 25th, '13, 05:41

Just did a network install of Mageia with lxde as my window manager and realized some of the libs i need where only available to Cauldron. After upgrading I can no longer launch any gui apps that need root password because the authentication box doesnt come up. If I manually launch them from a terminal or check the mark to run them in a terminal they work as expected, asking for a password then launching. If I juck click on them nothing happens at all.

Are you fully upgraded to Cauldron? (you may need to run the update multiple times until it finds nothing more to update). There was a problem with the GUI authentication in both LXDE and XFCE (see bug 11184), but I think the fix is now available - I saw this issue when I installed M4 beta 1 with XFCE, but after doing an update it was fixed.
