Bumblee disappearance

Postby wattanut » May 10th, '13, 19:32

Hello all

I had just finished configuring Bumblee last night and was about to give it a test run when I noticed some new updates.
Applied the updates and rebooted as there was a new kernel, went to test Bumblee only to find the daemon would not start.
After some investigation I found that Bumblee had uninstalled and was no longer available on the repo.

Can anyone tell me if it will reappear or should I get it from github?
Also do packages normally uninstall when they go from the repo or was this a dependency issue?

Thanks

http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux. ... evel/25297 - AFAIK kernel 3.9 and latest NVIDIA driver should have support for such hardware. So we can have it in Mageia 4.

Hm, yes; but ATM we have Kernel 3.8.12 in MGA3. How can Nvidia-GFX be configured? Tried configuring the discrete Nvidia-Card according to the description from the Nvidia doc, but that won't run. Another disadvantage is that in this case the Nvidia-card would be always used. That's not what was intended with Optimus. So i hope bumblebee would be back in the repos.
for windows problems reboot; for linux problems be root

I agree with you alf. The main reason I was installing Bumblebee was the power saving settings, which do not appear to be included with the Nvidia drivers.
There are rpm's available in the ROSA repositories, I might give those a go.
