Striped lists in Mageia Control Centre

Postby nutmeg » Apr 1st, '13, 02:52

I am using Mageia 3 with KDE 4.10.1

When I use the Mageia Control Centre, alternate items in lists (e.g. the list of package groups, the list of packages within groups), are shown on a white background, instead of my default background colour. As I use a dark background colour, with light coloured text, and the list uses my default text colour on the white background it is impossible to read.
I have gone through all my settings in Colors - System Settings, and I do not have a white background anywhere. I have changed all the settings which were set to "Varies" in case the white background was coming from these.

How can I change this so that all items in the list use my default background?

As using Mageia 3 (Cauldron) is anything but Basic I've move your post to "Testing : Alpha, Beta, RC and Cauldron".

The stripes don't just show up in Mageia Control Centre. I've also seen them in file selection dialogs in the GIMP

You're aware that your're using Cauldron, the Mageia development version? https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Cauldron

Also, please provide a small screenshot about the problem. Probably this is some themeing problem with GTK,
but could also be introduced by using custom theme/settings.

Yes I'm aware that it's a development version. Since the problem occurs in the GIMP as well , it may not be a Mageia/Cauldron problem. I was looking for advice on how to comletely control the colours used.

I have changed the colours using System Settings -> Application Appearance -> Colors, because I find a light background extremely tiring on my eyes.
I have not loaded a new theme.

The attachment shows the GIMP Open Image dialog

Probably some glitch when applying KDE/QT theme to the GTK theme. Probably with oxygen-gtk.
As the default is to have alternating colors (Check e.g. in dolphin, alternates by default between light gray and white)
seems in your case you have white foreground on white background.

I'd report that as a bug, if it can be reproduced with a freshly created user: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly

Yes I get the same in Dolphin. Very light grey foreground on white background.

I will report it as a bug, but not tonight.
