When starting MPlayer from the menue it crashes with 2 error message boxes (marked with *** in the code block below). Started from konsole window it gives:

Starting mplayer in command line mode ($ mplayer foo.avi) gives the same warnings about no socket and LIRC and the canberra-gtk module but then it starts showing the video without errors.
