bonjour
j ai installé alpha 3 avec le kernel 3.2.6.3-586 et pendant un moment je ne pouvais plus lancer le serveur X
apres bien des manips j ai reussi a avoir une interface graphique mais en ayant supprimer le fichier xorg.conf
actuellement je suis sous kde sans xorg.conf
je ne comprends pas que cela puisse fonctionner
quelqu un a t il une idée lumineuse ?????????

xorg.conf is not mandatory anymore, X server does dynamic detection on-the-fly since quite some time, if that answers your question.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!

I think you have discovered that, together, the kernel and xorg do a reasonably good job of probing and discovering your hardware to produce a working result. If you like what it gives you then stay with it. Otherwise you can still provide the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with your personal requirements, or add configuration tweaks in files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d.

If you just want to experiment then you could try adding [Sections] to an empty xorg.conf and see what they do to the auto-configured screen.
