[Solved] Change the plymouth theme in Mageia

Postby Creto » Jul 6th, '15, 14:48

Good morning!

I want to produce some issues, for example Plymouth's

But in Debian and other distributions the folder is in /lib/plymouth/themes, I know that in mageia are in /usr/share/plymouth/themes...

But my question is what commands I use to change the subject after sending for that folder?

Sorry my bad english!

Hi all,

I found the solution:

Code: Select all
# cp -r Mageia-Bolha /usr/share/plymouth/themes/

Code: Select all
# plymouth-set-default-theme -R Mageia-Bolha

Code: Select all
reboot

If you want to test

Mageia-Bolha.tar.xz - Download
Mageia-Claire.tar.xz - Download

Hmmm, seems the plymouth display/preview as explained e.g. here http://brej.org/blog/?p=158 does not work anymore,
at least not with proprietary nvidia driver. Because it may help to have a screenshot what those themes look like,
as a theme change always requires a reboot if you don't use a VM for testing.

Thanks for sharing :D

Maybe better use the opendesktop link, as otherwise it might look like there's some relation to KDE ;)

Just a question, you write
Theme based on "Mageia-Default" the Art Team http://mageia.org//

The wallpaper used looks pretty different from default Mageia one?

And for something else, you should maybe edit the text:

Code: Select all
# Su
# Cp -r Mageia-Cold-Fire / usr / share / plymouth / themes /
# Plymouth-set-default-theme -R Mageia-Cold-Fire
#reboot

Seems auto-correction from some office tool did this, as first letters are capitalised. There are also blanks between the / in / usr / share / plymouth / themes /

should be:

Code: Select all
# su
# cp -r Mageia-Cold-Fire /usr/share/plymouth/themes/
# plymouth-set-default-theme -R Mageia-Cold-Fire

Thank you my friend!

thank you my friend

I have no command of the language and the translator google makes these

And I forgot to revise the text but already corrected, but the correct is so:

Code: Select all
# su
# cp -r Mageia-ColdFire /usr/share/plymouth/themes/
# plymouth-set-default-theme -R Mageia-ColdFire

That is the theme name is: Mageia-ColdFire

Yes, it is based but the change was precisely the background.png file

And just a command that did not yield to post on kde-look (which is what I use and I account) so put there:

Code: Select all
plymouthd; plymouth --show-splash ; for ((I=0; I<10; I++)); do plymouth --update=test$I ; sleep 1; done; plymouth quit

Do not use this command above the Mageia, it does not work

I'll have a look at this when I start on MGA6's plymouth, I might have to steal some of your ideas, dont worry, proper credit will be given

Good evening!

Yes schultz!

You can use whatever you like I've posted here, all I do is done without any restrictions. Just as soon as use is not properly done for me but the Mageia.

The rest is all done with GIMP and Inkscape.

Best regards,
