This is the universal human right to privacy formulated by the UN in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Article 12.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.
This is important stuff and maybe the biggest challenge in our century - and Human rights are way above politics it matters to all and affects all.
