Kernel-NRJ on Mageia

Postby fraterlinux » Jul 28th, '12, 01:45

I compiled the kernel-NRJ on Mageia 2 for now to x86_64. Will upload in Google Driver, who can help testing I'll be grateful!

""NRJ name was choosed by MIB, is not an official kernel branch or tree... after a discussion in MIB ML, we searched a short particle of 3 letters, with the right international meaning, a new name not yet used in kernel names to identify some some new updated kernels prepared differently than usual whose main target was/is: having more responsviness for a better desktop.

Now NRJ is a way to identify a good number of different experimental flavours but you must consider that is more like a work in progress led by me, NicCo... ""

Can you at least give a short overview over the changes compared to default Mandriva kernel, i.e. which preemptions settings changed, which patches were added/removed and stuff like that. And are there benchmarks or comparisons available to measure improvements over default Mageia kernel?

I'll ask technical data to the developer, and complementary posting. This is an experimental kernel with several modifications designed for home user. I use NRJ modifications before the creation of Mageia and always liked these kernel-nrj. I honestly do not know how an artificial benchmarks could play day-by-day a home user. I think valid Forum members home users test for a time and post comments about good and bad aspects of it.

I am also using a NRJ kernel made for Mageia and I am satisfied with it.
But I am only using it because is PAE enabled.

My experience with NRJ as home user is that it is more experimental and also has an excellent responsiveness. So I like it.
